Probation

Noun. To randomly select criminals and release them into the community. This helps ensure full use is made of police and judicial resources, enabling them to repeat the process of detection, arrest and trial. Although police and judicial resources are sometimes, or quite often overstretched, none of these resources are ever left idle.
